We are working with a well‑established organisation to recruit an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead and develop a high‑performing accounts payable function across multiple sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive finance professional who enjoys managing people, improving processes, and ensuring best‑practice controls across a busy transactional finance environment.

The Role

The Accounts Payable Manager will take ownership of the end‑to‑end accounts payable process, supervising a team and ensuring accurate, timely processing of invoices, supplier payments, and reconciliations. You will play a key role in strengthening controls, supporting month‑end activity, and acting as the escalation point for complex queries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the accounts payable team across multiple locations, ensuring workloads are balanced and service levels maintained
  • Line‑manage team members, including coaching, performance management, and development planning
  • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of purchase orders, goods received notes, and invoices within the finance system
  • Manage payment runs, supplier statement reconciliations, and resolve queries or disputes efficiently
  • Act as the primary escalation point for accounts payable issues, both internally and externally
  • Ensure strong compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Support the finance team during month‑end and year‑end close processes
  • Prepare account payable reports and provide insight to support decision‑making
  • Assist with audit requests by providing supporting documentation and explanations

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in a senior accounts payable or transactional finance management role
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and support a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and a structured, organised approach to work
  • Confidence working with finance systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to manage changing priorities
