Our client, a growing construction business, are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function and provide accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational support. This is a hands-on role offering broad responsibility across management accounts, payroll, cashflow, and business partnering.

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting:

·       Prepare monthly Management Accounts, including Profit & Loss reports.

·       Complete monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations.

·       Produce project performance reports and financial analysis.

·       Set up and maintain Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).

·       Maintain accurate financial records and controls.

·       Support cashflow management and forecasting.

Transactional Finance:

·       Perform daily bank reconciliations.

·       Manage the purchase ledger and supplier accounts.

·       Process weekly supplier payment runs.

·       Maintain supporting financial documentation and records.

Payroll & Compliance:

·       Process monthly payroll.

·       Prepare and submit CIS returns.

·       Complete quarterly VAT returns.

·       Submit ONS surveys as required.

·       Prepare year-end schedules and supporting documentation for external accountants and auditors.

Operational & Business Support:

·       Review and process employee timesheets, validating information against vehicle tracking data.

·       Update operational logs and records where required.

·       Provide HR administration support when needed.

·       Develop and improve reporting tools, including Excel spreadsheets and macros.

·       Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiencies across the finance function.

 

About You

·       AAT qualified or equivalent.

·       Previous finance experience within the construction sector.

·       Strong knowledge of Management Accounts, CIS, VAT, and payroll.

·       Excellent Excel skills, with VBA/macro experience advantageous.

·       Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.

·       Proactive with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
