We are pleased to be working exclusively with an established and well-respected organisation within the Legal sector who are seeking an experienced finance professional to join as Legal Accounts Senior within its accounts function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal accounts professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has a strong understanding of legal accounting procedures and regulatory compliance.

As a Legal Accounts Senior, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the wider business with accurate financial information.

This role is initially office based, with hybrid working offered after probation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules across all financial activities.
  • Processing and posting daily client and office account transactions, including receipts, payments and disbursements.
  • Performing daily and monthly reconciliations of client, office and deposit bank accounts.
  • Processing and authorising electronic payments, including CHAPS and BACS transfers.
  • Reviewing, posting and managing client invoices.
  • Resolving complex accounts and ledger queries from colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Assisting with month-end processes and management reporting.
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns.
  • Supporting the preparation of records and reports for audits and annual accountant reviews.
  • Providing guidance and support to junior members of the accounts team when required.

About You

  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Legal Cashier, Legal Accounts Assistant, or Legal Accounts professional within a UK law firm.
  • Working knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Experience using legal accounting and case management systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ideally you will have knowledge of legal aid billing.
  • Previous payroll exposure.
