Cobb & Jones are exclusively partnering with a well-established organisation to recruit a Finance Assistant to join their friendly finance team. This is a varied role offering exposure across all aspects of transactional finance, payroll support, reconciliations, reporting, and business analysis. 


This opportunity would suit someone with previous experience in a finance role who enjoys working with numbers, has strong attention to detail, and is looking to develop their accounting knowledge within a supportive environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the day-to-day accounting function, including sales and purchase ledger activities.
  • Processing supplier invoices and payments.
  • Raising sales invoices and managing credit control activities.
  • Taking ownership of aged debtor reporting and collections.
  • Performing bank, petty cash, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assisting with payroll administration and pension processing.
  • Monitoring expenditure and producing financial analysis to support operational decision-making.
  • Managing purchase orders and ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Maintaining financial data across accounting systems.
  • Assisting with month-end processes and reporting requirements.


About You

  • Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance position.
  • Knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting payroll processes would be advantageous.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large volumes of financial data.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive and problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Trustworthy and professional when handling confidential information.


Requirements

  • Minimum of three years' experience within a finance-related role.
  • AAT Level 2 or Level 3 qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of core accounting principles.
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent desirable.
